Citation Share

Share of citations · Bing Citation Share

Citation Share is the share of citations attributed to a site out of all citations shown for a given grounding query. Bing added it to the AI Performance report on June 16, 2026: it gives a relative measure, but exposes neither competitor domains nor traffic.

How is Citation Share calculated?

For each grounding query, Bing reports the percentage of citations attributed to your site out of all citations shown for that query. It complements the raw citation count, which says nothing about the place occupied in the answer.

Which other new features come with Citation Share?

On June 16, 2026, Bing rolled out four views in preview: Intents (queries classified by purpose), Topics (grouping by theme), Citation Share and Compare (overlay of two periods). All four help sort grounding queries rather than reading them one by one.

How do you use it?

Sort grounding queries by Citation Share, spot pages with a high share to understand what gets cited, and identify queries where the site is cited with a low share. Track changes with Compare. It does not replace a share of voice measured on your own set of prompts.

Frequently asked questions

Does Citation Share compare with competitors?

It is calculated against all citations for the query, but does not expose competitor domains.

Does Google have one?

Not at this time: Search Console’s generative AI report provides only impressions.

Is it equivalent to a traffic share?

No. It measures citations, not clicks.
