What does the AI Performance report show?

The report displays total citations for the selected period, the average number of pages cited per day, a trend chart, a table of grounding queries and the list of cited pages. It opens from Bing Webmaster Tools once the site is verified. Importing from Search Console takes about 24 hours before data appears.

On June 16, 2026, Bing added four views in preview: Intents, Topics, Citation Share and Compare.

Why is this report strategic?

It is one of the few official sources documenting real citations in AI answers. Grounding queries give a glimpse of the phrasing AI uses to look for its sources, which is a basis for GEO-oriented keyword research.

What are the limits of the report?

No clicks or traffic, no direct link between a grounding query and a specific citation, and only a sample of queries. Grounding queries are not what users type: read them as topics rather than literal keywords.

Frequently asked questions

Does the report cover ChatGPT?

No. It is limited to Copilot, Bing’s AI summaries and selected partners.

How do I access the data?

Verify the site in Bing Webmaster Tools, by importing from Search Console or manually, then open the AI Performance tab.

Are grounding queries real user queries?

No, they are queries generated by the AI to look for sources. They resemble the sub-queries of a query fan-out.
