AI response · Answer generated by an AI engine
An AI response is the text an engine generates after processing a prompt, sometimes accompanied by sources, links or brand recommendations. It is the object GEO tools collect and analyze, and it can change with every run.
Standalone definition · 37 words
How is it produced?
The engine analyzes the prompt, decides whether to search the web, generates sub-queries, retrieves passages, then writes a synthesis and possibly attaches citations. The response depends on the moment’s context, personalization and the model.
Why treat it as a unit of measurement?
GEO indicators are computed per response: a brand is present or not, a source is used or not. Peec AI counts its visibility percentages in number of chats, that is, responses.
What are the limits?
A single response is not a result: it varies, may contain errors and differs by user and engine. You need repeated series over several prompts before concluding.
Frequently asked questions
Is an AI response always sourced?
No. Depending on the engine and the prompt, it may come from the model’s parametric memory alone, with no citation.
Do two users get the same response?
Not necessarily. Personalization and volatility produce different responses to the same prompt.
